Westhill University's Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the medical education program provided by its distinguished and experienced faculty and staff has been approved and accepted by the United States Department of Education's National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation.
-
After a careful, extensive, and comprehensive review of every aspect of Westhill's medical program, the United States Department of Education certifies that the academic quality and effective clinical training offered by Westhill University is equal or superior to that of any medical program currently taught in the United States.
-
This significant achievement is great news for United States citizens and legal residents who wish to study medicine in the bilingual and bi-cultural environment of one of the world's most exciting cities –Mexico City! The twenty-first century physician is now obligated to administer healing care to patients who come from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. In this regard, Westhill's mission and professional commitment have been specifically designed to prepare its graduates for world-class community care and medical treatment.
-
During the first two years of study, classes are taught in English with Spanish as a Second Language required of all foreign medical students. The next three to four years of the program are composed of clinical skills development. Westhill medical students study and work in several of the city's finest hospitals. Here students work with patients, assist physicians, and learn the necessary state-of-the-art diagnostic skills and treatment procedures.
-
During this clinical studies phase of the program, Westhill medical students speak with patients in the patients' native language of Spanish. In this way the true character of Westhill's bilingual medical education becomes evident. With two years of extensive Spanish language study already accomplished, our physicians-in-training are prepared to work in a truly global environment where English and Spanish are used interchangeably to further advance medical care and professional development. This indispensable and cutting-edge aspect of Westhill's medical education program is not duplicated anywhere in the United States. Westhill's medical school graduates are genuinely prepared for twenty-first century clinical practice.
-
And there's more good news! Because Westhill University School of Medicine has been accredited by the U.S. Department of Education's National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation, United States citizens and legal residents will soon be eligible to borrow federal student aid under the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program to help pay for the expenses of medical education while attending Westhill University School of Medicine. This provision for U.S. Federal student aid is made possible by The Higher Education Act of 1965.
-
And finally, student visas are readily available to any United States citizen or legal resident who has been accepted into the medical education program of Westhill University. Westhill staff and administrators have the necessary information and are eager to assist foreign students with the visa process.
